The Amputation was done with the intention that Stephen would be able to walk again with a prosthetic. His goal was to return to runnning. Unfortunatley due to continued complications from his injuries, this has not been possible and Stephen is confined to a wheelchair on a permanent basis. However despite the challenges that Stephen has faced he embraced his new reality and became determined to be an inspiration to others and to be example of how one can strive to overcome life’s challenges and acheive whatever goals and dreams they may have.
Stephen did not want his love of sports and physical activity to be over and immediatley began to look for ways he could continue his journey. With the encouragement of friends, Stephen began competing in paratriathlon last summer and quickly made a name for himself as a determined athlete not willing to let his physical limitations slow him down.
Under the direction of an amazing coaching team, all of whom are widely recognized for thier abilities. Stephen has big goals for this coming season, including acheiving his world classification this summer so that he can compete internationally for Canada.
To do this, Stephen needs help to cover the costs of the specialized equipment required to compete at this level. In addition, to helping covering the costs associated with competing at this elite level.
